Clearly, I have zero creativity when it comes to “naming” a cake. But that’s okay… the cake speaks for itself!
But… she wanted bright colors! The birthday party colors were designed around these bright colorful plates and napkins.
I didn’t copy the designs exactly but I tried to get the essence of the design on the cake. I used my extruder to make the name for the board…
… but I hand rolled a rope of fondant for the numbers on the front. I used a flower cookie cutter from this 101 Wilton Cookie cutters set for the plaque behind the numbers.
Here are links for the other cutters I used on this cake… and I must say while I’m listing them that these cutters are the ones I use the most! They are my favorites and I used them all the time!!
If you’re wondering about a good place to start your cookie cutter (fondant cutter) collection…I’d consider these “essentials”. Here you go:
- Ateco Round Cutters (set of 11)
- Fox Run Flower Cutters (set of 6)
- Miniature Cutters
- Fluted Edge Cutters from the 101 Wilton Cookie cutters set
- Flower Cutters from the Wilton Gum Paste Flowers set
- Both ends of tips from this Ateco Large Tubes (frosting tips) set
And that’s that…
Any questions about this cake? Leave them in the comments and I’m happy to answer them if I can!!
