  1. Do u have any little mermaid cupcake pictures?

  2. LOVE your site and tutorials! Just found all this today! Look forward to reading your blog and seeing more of everything! Thank you for taking the time to do all this!

  3. Rose, that is too amazing to find words to explain. Wow! Really really really powerful.
May God continue to bless you. Greetings from Italy…

  4. I LOVE all your designs, great inspiration.. since I’m just starting out.. how do you dye the fondant to “black” for the zebra stripes? I have seen Neon green food dye, but never sure about how to mix colors to get black. I plan on using the Marshmallow Fondant recipe. Any suggestions?
My daughter wants the lime green/zebra for her 10th birthday cake next week!
    God bless,
    Psalm 40

    • Hi Lisa – Thanks for visiting!! I used to add either Wilton or Americolor black gel to my fondant to get it black. But I had to add a LOT of gel coloring to get it truly black and it usually made the texture of the fondant difficult to work with. If I still had to do that, I’d recommend Americolor Super Black – it’s the best I’ve found. However, now I buy my black, brown and red fondant pre-made. I prefer Satin Ice brand. It’s expensive but I don’t use it often so it’s worth it!! I hope that helps :)

    • Rose is the expert and I haven’t tried the brand of coloring she uses. But I made a cake that needed a lot of black fondant. Since I was making my fondant from scratch, I went ahead and made chocolate fondant so I would be starting out with a darker fondant and then I used black Wilton gel color. It came out great.

  12. OMG!! I just found your site today! You are wonderful!! I just make cakes on the side for fun. I have learned as much from your site as I did in cake classes. I have a cousin wanting me to make the cowboy cake for her son’s 1st Bday, however I really don’t know how to make the cowboy hat. Can you help me out? I will definitely be checking out your site more oftne when I’m asked to do a cake!! Don’t stop posting and keep up the incredible work!!

    • Welcome to RoseBakes and thanks so much for stopping by!! For the cowboy hat I use rice cereal treats to shape the top part and let it harden overnight. I just eyeball it to try and get a passable shape. Then I cover it on whatever color fondant the hat will be. For the brim, I just cut out a circle of the appropriate size circle in the same color (from gumpaste OR fondant with Tylose). Then I roll up the two sides and put something under them to keep them bend/curved up while they dry for a day or two. Usually a small glass works. To glue them together, I used melted chocolate then I put a bad around the hat to hide the seam! That’s it – easy-peasy!! I’d love it if you’d sign up for my free emails newsletter and like RoseBakes on Facebook!

      • Thank you so much for the info on hat. I will sign up for the newsletter. I would love to get newsletters from you. Thanks again

    • I know this is way too late, but maybe for the future… Here’s how I made the cowboy hat: http://rosebakes.com/how-to-make-a-cowboy-hat-cake-topper-tutorial/
