A Catfish Cake. Ha! You can see a picture tutorial of how to make a catfish cake here.
I’ve mentioned a few times before that I’m very behind on posting cakes. The cakes that I should be sharing today would be from the weekend of July 28.
But, because I’m super busy with cake today and I already had the photos edited for the catfish cake, I thought I’d go ahead and share it!
Can you imagine this sitting on a table at your wedding? Maybe? Maybe not! Well, here in the south (at least), fishing is a big deal and this cake was a huge hit!
Here’s the other side (pretty much the same) …
… and the cake itself, it was red velvet cake, so when we cut a slit for the gills… it was authentically pink/red inside! 🙂
Now, I have to say, I couldn’t have done t his cake without my husband. He was the expert and he actually did about 75% of the decorating on it! From making the fins to covering it with fondant to spraying the color mist on!
And you wanna know how sweet he is? When I told him I couldn’t claim credit for this cake because he had done so much of the work, he said, “Yes you can. We are one and this cake is by RoseBakes … which is us.”
Love him, love him, love him!
As I mentioned, this cake was red velvet cake with cream cheese filling/frosting and all decorations were homemade marshmallow fondant (except the fins were Satin Ice Gum Paste).
I am working on the pics of my step-by-step instructions… hopefully going up tomorrow! Click HERE for the Full Tutorial of How to Make a Catfish Cake!
