When I did the Harley-Davidson Birthday cake, I also did this Dora the Explorer cake for the same family. Dad and daughter were sharing their party
Unlike my first Dora’s Backpack cake, for this one there was alot… and I mean alot of details! But it was really fun to put together.
I think this was the first time I had made these rolled roses from fondant
(not sure if these have a more technical name?), which my friends in the comments tell me are called ribbon roses!
I also made other flowers and leaves, using the Wilton Gum Paste Flowers set. (Ignore Dora’s slightly deformed-looking hand over there… boy that looks funny!)
For the letters on this cake, they were cut using a Play-Doh alphabet cutters. I don’t use them often, but I thought they were perfect for this cake.
Then there were the characters! This is obviously not my strong suit, and I was disappointed that I couldn’t nail those details!
But the good news is that the customer and Aaliyah absolutely loved the cake!
Do you have any questions about this cake? Please leave them in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer and help out!
