When I did the Harley-Davidson Birthday cake, I also did this Dora the Explorer cake for the same family.  Dad and daughter were sharing their party :)

Unlike my first Dora’s Backpack cake, for this one there was alot… and I mean alot of details!   But it was really fun to put together.

I think this was the first time I had made these rolled roses from fondant (not sure if these have a more technical name?), which my friends in the comments tell me are called ribbon roses!

I also made other flowers and leaves, using the Wilton Gum Paste Flowers set.  (Ignore Dora’s slightly deformed-looking hand over there… boy that looks funny!)

For the letters on this cake, they were cut using a Play-Doh alphabet cutters.  I don’t use them often, but I thought they were perfect for this cake.

Then there were the characters!  This is obviously not my strong suit, and I was disappointed that I couldn’t nail those details!

But the good news is that the customer and Aaliyah absolutely loved the cake!

This cake was vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and almost all of the decorations were homemade marshmallow fondant.   The brown was Satin Ice Dark Chocolate/Brown fondant (it tastes like brownies!!).

I miss baking! Although, I have one project coming up in September for my Godson! Can’t wait to show you Rose!

The link didn’t come up for the Wilton Gum Paste Flower Set.

    • Thank you Yaneri! For the characters, I printed out a coloring sheet and then traced/cut on fondant…. but it kept stretching and sticking to the paper, and overall just not working out as easily as I hoped!

I think I fixed the link for the flowers set… as always, thank you for letting me know! xoxo

As you already know, the cakes were wonderful. Everybody love it. Aaliyah is still talking about her party, her cake and her guest. She wants everybody to come back to her house. The party turned out great, despite the rain we had a big turn out. Thanks again for all your hard work you put into the cakes.
