I almost didn’t write a post about this LSU Tiger Stripes Sheet Cake today, because well… I’ve posted one very similar to it already.

But then I remembered than an LSU cake actually made it into my top 10 blog posts of 2012, so I figured why not?  If LSU cakes are popular, I might as well go ahead and put another on here, right?

Then there is also the fact that my computer failed yet again so I’m still writing on a very old computer

… and  I’ve already written a different post for this morning (not posted yet – but I’ll let you know when it goes up!)

and I have baking to do today, and a messy house to clean… and on and on and on.. so my point is, I wanted to keep it short!

This cake lends itself to a short post.

And the good news is that my  new hard drive should be installed and working tomorrow so hopefully I can get back to “normal” posting after that!   Which means long posts… with lots of pictures.  I hope you don’t mind!

In the meantime – here are the nuts and bolts of this cake.

It was vanilla cake on the inside, but with the Tiger Stripes in purple & gold (see inside a cake like this here).   I crumb coated with vanilla buttercream.

It was covered and decorated with homemade marshmallow fondant (MMF) in Regal Purple and Golden Yellow gel –  I use Americolor Gel Colors.

The letters were done with the 1.5″ White Plastic Alphabet Cutters – one of my most popular sets!

And that’s all there is to say, I think!

I must say that you do beautiful cakes, this is a real nice one. I have baked all my life but have been afraid of going into business. CONGRATS you are just wonderful.

You deserve a great big SHOUT OUT for the work you do. You are such a beautiful baker and decorator and what I like about you is that you care enough to share how you bake and decorate your items so that everyone can enjoy the world of “baking and decorating”. Please keep doing this for a long time to come. You bake such beautiful cakes and I’ve used some of your recipes for my own cakes and they are just delicious. I’m not a professional baker nor am I a cake decorator, just someone ordinary that likes to bake, but the recipes for your cakes and frosting sure makes me feel good when I get those great compliments. I just tell them go to the ‘rose bakes” facebook page and they can be a good baker too. Keep up the good work and love all those beautiful pictures of cakes you do. Your explanation of what you use to make the cakes and how you decorated them with pictures is so helpful and comes in handy. Thanks for such good work you do.
