Pin ItThis cake was originally published in April 2011.. Asher was about 4 months old!
Note: I used to publish all of my cakes over at AdventuresinSavings.com. Now that I’ve started RoseBakes.com (as of January 2012) I want to transfer and update all of my posts/pictures with watermarks and info relevant here. So over the next few weeks (or months) I hope to work my way through all of my old cake posts and republish them. The only downside? My older pictures were terrible not great, but maybe you’ll forgive me!!
My inspiration for this cake is Bailey’s birthday party theme – Pink Mod Monkey. I love monkeys, so this cake was really fun for me! And I guess monkey’s are “in” right now. I have possibly 2 other monkey cakes coming up and they seem to be popular in baby clothes right now as well!

Asher probably has 4 outfits with monkeys on them. See those tiny little monkeys with surfboards? How cute is that? Oh, he also had monkeys on his feet…

My son looks just like yours!!! He was wearing that outfit yesterday.
What did you use for the Mod Monkey face? I will be creating my first Mod Monkey cake and i have never heard of it before. I am wondering how to do the face? any suggestions????
Hi Ericka! I printed out a copy of the head on the napkin or plate (resized to the size I needed it… about 4″ I think). Then I cut it out and laid it on brown fondant, and cut around the edge with an Xacto knife. Then I cut the picture into pieces and traced the face, ears, etc. onto lighter brown and cut them out the same way! I “glued” them together with sugar water. Does that make sense?
