Do you all think I've abandoned you today? I didn't... I promise. I've just been busy making this cake, then cleaning house and getting ready for our House Parties, then going shopping, then cleaning house some more. It's been a looong day!
This Bridal Shower cake is another one that I imitated from CakeCentral.com. I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull it off, but after I read that the original cake maker used this Martha Stewart Edger Doily Lace (a paper punch thingy) to do all that detail work... well, I ordered me one and figured out how to roll fondant paper thin... then it all came together!
The customer wanted the cake to match the color scheme for the wedding...so the bouquet is champagne & marine blue, with a background of a willow/mossy green (can't remember the exact color name). I'm not sure I got the colors spot on, but I was really pleased with how it all turned out especially considering how terrified I was before I got started!
My cakes for next weekend will be Tinkerbell and a "Gender Reveal" cake... do you know what that is?
I didn't before a couple of weeks ago. You see...the cake will be either pink or blue on the inside and I get to be the only one to know the answer before the party. It's for my brother and his wife (have I told you that she's due with my niece/nephew about 3 weeks after I'm due with our baby? squeeee!). She got the ultrasound tech to write down the baby's gender on a piece of paper in an envelope... I get the envelope ahead of time, make the cake, then everyone finds out when we cut the cake at a party next weekend. Doesn't that sound fun??
