Let me start with… I’m not a morning person. Not.at.all. So the fact that I went to bed around 2am last night and then was up at 6:15am is a great indication of how I’m feeling right now. Can you say DEAD TIRED?
Yeah. I’m super duper tired. Or rather… completely exhausted. And cranky – because my alarm went off before our rooster crowed. Not even kidding (we do have a rooster). And then I’m tired some more.
But because I’ve been a serious slacker this week with blogging, I really wanted to share a cake today and since I made this one yesterday – it seemed easy enough to blog about (and fresh on my very fried and tired mind).
So… the Ballet and Ribbon Roses Cake. This sweet little cake is simple, yet elegant and girly and just plain pretty. It was a 9 inch round cake – white almond sour cream was the flavor.
I used a plaque cutter from CheapCookieCutters.com and the Fox Run Alphabet cutters to do the letters. For the ribbon border – I used my FMM Ribbon Cutter – read this post to see how I do ribbon borders.
Around the top of the cake and in the center – I addedsimple ribbon roses. These little flowers are so easy to make and really add a little extra “pretty” on the cake, ,dontcha think? It’s hard to see from the pictures, but I dusted the ribbon roses and ballet slippers with orchid luster dust before putting them on the cake so they shimmered just a little bit!
In the words of my sweet MawMaw, “if the good Lord is willing and the creek don’t rise”, I’ll share the very easy tutorial for the roses tomorrow! Isn’t that the funniest saying? You really have to hear it being said to fully grasp it if you haven’t heard it before. Regardless, it always makes me smile and miss her.
One more little happy before I go… Surprise! Craftsy has just announced a Spring Flash Sale for this weekend only!
