I had so much fun making this Beach Proposal Engagement Party Cake!
Garrett & Hollie got engaged on a beach so when their friends decided to throw them an engagement party – they wanted the cake to reflect the proposal. What a fun idea, huh?
For the “beach/sand” side of the cake, I tinted the buttercream a tan color then pressed graham cracker crumbs into it to make it sandy :). The water side of the cake was (obviously) just blue buttercream.
The host of the party sent me an actual picture from their engagement with a beach mat and “Will You Marry Me?” written on it, so I did my best to copy that mat. It was navy fondant with tan fondant on top.
I used a ribbed or smocked rolling pin to get the mat texture and the letters were done with Satin Ice Black Fondant and tappit block cutters. PS. Those rolling pins are on sale for only $4.99 at BrownCookie.com right now and that’s the same shop where I get some of my favorite letter cutters (used on these cakes and this one just to name a couple). And, if you spend $35 or more, you get FREE Shipping!! Woot-Woot!!
If you’d like to know how I made the Edible Palm Tree – be sure to visit this post! It was pretty easy to do and I loved how it turned out! The umbrella was a cocktail umbrella… but I didn’t need to tell you that, right? 😉
And that’s it… I don’t think there’s much else I can tell you about this cake!
