For this order of cake pops, I was asked to do several variations using black, white and red. I don’t know much about Mardi Gras, but I did find out that the color scheme was for a specific crew in a Mardi Gras parade (or celebration or some sort?).
Red is one of my favorite colors and I love the way the black, red and white combo POPS!
Here are a few more pics with some links to the products I used!
I used these nifty squirt bottles to do the drizzle on some of the pops.
For others I used sugar and sprinkles and jimmies…
and white non-pariels.
I’m definitely getting more comfortable with cake pops the more I do them!
Oh, and I got this little Babycakes Chocolatier for Christmas and I found it really useful for doing these!! I melted the chocolate in the removable pot in the microwave, then put it in the tiny crock pot to keep it warm. I was able to work and dip cake pops for almost an hour without my chocolate getting hard again! It was awesome!!
If you didn’t have many to do, or you needed several colors, it might not be worth the hassle, but since I had so many to do and only in 2 colors, I found it to definitely be a time-saver (vs. reheating the chocolate multiple times to keep it melted!).
