Chevron and Polka Dots Minnie Mouse Cake
Today I have oh-so-much to do. Dentist appointment, speech therapy, run by the store for milk, and the normal stuff…. homeschool, laundry, dishes. Sounds fun, huh?
To get my day off right, I thought I’d get up early and share a cake, because that’s always a great way to start a day, right?
And today’s cake? It’s a Chevron and Polka Dots Minnie Mouse Cake for Lillie:) My customer sent me a picture that served as my inspiration!
I don’t get to do many Minnie cakes that are red and black (most are pink), so this was a fun change-up for me… and of course, I’m still loving the chevron trend! Do you remember Lillie’s cake from last year? It also had chevrons on it plus rainbows!!
The cake was 6″ and 10″ round cakes plus the Minnie head on top was baked in the sports ball pan plus an extra 6″ round layer underneath to give it height. It was all confetti cake with vanilla buttercream.
On the middle tier, I used a plaque cutter for the name plate, then used my extruder for the actual name. To get the “Disney” font, I just found a sample online, then copied it as best I could with the tiny ropes of fondant. I used a very small round cutter for the polka dots.
On the bottom tier, I used my chevron cutter from CheapCookieCutters.com to cut the pattern and then I attached them to the cake by coating the entire tier in a very thin coat of shortening. The chevrons stuck to it very easily!
I used silicone pearl molds for all of the borders.

And that’s it… do you have any questions about this cake? Leave me a comment if you do!
