It's Day 14 of the Write 31 Days Challenge and I haven't missed a day! YAY me!! Yesterday I posted a "Currently I'm..." post over on Rose Atwater and that's always fun so today I'm sharing one here... except it's all about cake decorating and my business!!
If you want to read more details about my personal real (non-cake) life... check out this post (with my favorite snacks, shows, my new rings and more!!)
So here goes.
Watching Charming Party Cakes by Zoe Clark. I've had this Craftsy class in my library for awhile but never finished watching it! Since I don't have any cake orders this week (other than the little cake I did on Tuesday), I thought I'd catch up on some of my class watching!
Loving my new paint brush caddy organizer. It's a small, cheap investment, but it has saved my sanity when it comes to keeping up with my paint brushes and being able to find the one I want to use quickly! If you use brushes at all in your cakes business... get one of these today!
Thinking about changing my business to wedding cakes only. I keep telling myself I'm crazy for even considering it, but I'm loving my slower pace these days and if I drew a line in the sand and decided to only do wedding cakes, I'd definitely be putting a limit on the number of cakes I do and I can't find a downside to that. Has anybody else done this?
Learning as much as I can about making recipe videos, SEO (reading this) and sharpening my knowledge about blogging in all areas. I cannot wait for the Genius Blogger's Toolkit to come out in less than two weeks. It's going to be AMAZING!! Also, if you're interested in Food Blogger Pro (another resource I cannot recommend enough - I've been a member for years!!), membership is going to open up soon and you'll want to be on the list... sign up here to get on the waiting list (no commitment required) --> Food Blogger Pro!
Feeling thankful for husband who will do just about anything for me! When I told him I needed some kind of rig to start making overhead videos - and showed him a couple of ideas - he immediately came up with an idea, bought the materials and made this (above) for me. It didn't cost more than $20 and it works GREAT! He's so awesome! Someone asked about the lights... they're Lowell Ego Lights on tripods.
Daydreaming about a Workbox 2.0. Have you guys SEEN those?? Do you know how much cake stuff I can pack in there?? Eeeek... I need one now!!
Baking Molten Lava Cakes and Fresh Apple Cakes (recipes coming soon!!) and lots and lots of petit fours (for an upcoming event)!
Getting excited about the weekend! My best friend and her family will be here for a couple of days and I cannot WAIT to hang out with them! Okay - I kept this last one the same from my other blog, but I'm just so PUMPED! Kathy will be here later tonight!
And that's all... until tomorrow!! HAPPY WEEKEND YA'LL!!
