Today our pastor’s wife, Mrs. Jeanne Pearl, is celebrating her birthday. A few weeks ago she mentioned at church that she wanted a chocolate for her birthday – so I came home and wrote it on my calendar… I didn’t want to forget!
You see, I love Mrs. JP more than I can put into words.
Her and her husband, Bro. James Earl are precious, wonderful people and we’ve just grown to adore them since moving home and joining the church. They’re like family in every sense of the word.
Actually… they sort of are family. Their daughter Ariel is married to my brother Jake. Their wedding cake is the one that started my business.
And their other daughter Nikki is married to my first cousin. I wasn’t doing cakes when that happened, but I gladly would have! Ha!
So you see… we’re related. In a way. That’s why I can publish this picture of them:
You can’t cut family out of your life for publishing a silly picture of you! Can you? I hope not! 🙂
Anywho… I can’t say enough kind words about Mrs. Jeanne Pearl and what she means to me. To my kids (she teaches some of them in church classes). To my whole family.
She’s just a beautiful woman of God. She gives the best hugs. She is a cool, fashionable lady. She raised a wonderful, beautiful daughter who I get to call sister (in-law) these days. She smiles and encourages others even when she’s going through serious trials herself. She’s crafty. She is a talented and fantastic home decorator. Speaking of decorating… I need to bribe her with cake to come help me and my poor pitiful un-decorated house. Mrs. JP? Are you listening?
She’s just good people. The best of the best. And I’m blessed to know her.
So, I didn’t know if she had a particular chocolate cake in mind when she mentioned wanting one, so I went with a simple, but delicious combination.
I made a dark chocolate cake in three layers and let it cool. Then I made a big batch of ganache. I put down a single layer of cake, poured on ganache until it ran over the edges. And repeated. Twice.
Then – just to add some festivity to the cake – I added rainbow sprinkles. They just cheer everything up, dontcha think?
So that’s everything.
Happy Birthday Mrs. Jeanne Pearl. We love you to pieces and we hope you have a wonderful, blessed day! Big hugs from the Atwaters!!! xoxo
