Description

Bacon jam is the ultimate blend of smoky, salty, and sweet. With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up this rich, savory spread in about an hour – perfect for burgers, sandwiches, charcuterie boards, or snacking with crackers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound bacon, cut into approximately 1-inch pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups diced yellow onion
  • 2 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Add the bacon to a large cast iron skillet, place it on the stovetop over medium heat, and cook until the bacon is just slightly crispy –  about 15-20 minutes.*
  2. Pour most of the grease out of the skillet, leaving about 2-3 tablespoons in the skillet with the bacon.
  3. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet with the bacon and saute over medium heat until the onion is translucent – about 10 minutes.
  4. Add the brown sugar and apple cider vinegar to the skillet, bring the mixture to a simmer, and continue to cook over medium-medium/low heat until the liquid is reduced and becomes syrupy, stirring occasionally. This should take about 20-25 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately with crackers or as a burger topping. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about two weeks.

Notes

*Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the thickness of your bacon and how hot your stovetop gets.
