Ingredients

  • 8-ounce block full-fat cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened in the microwave for about 15 seconds
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, plus extra for topping

Instructions

  1. Add the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla extract to a large mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until creamy.
  2. Add the powdered sugar to the mixing bowl and mix until well combined. Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl with a rubber spatula to ensure all the ingredients are fully incorporated. Beat the mixture again until it is very fluffy – about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the chocolate chips to the mixing bowl and fold them in with a rubber spatula.
  4. Scoop the dip into a serving bowl and top with extra chocolate chips.

Notes

  • Soften cream cheese properly. Make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing. This helps get creamy, smooth dip without lumps, making it easier to combine with the other ingredients.
  • Use an electric mixer. This is not a recipe you want to mix by hand. To get the best creamy texture, use a stand mixer or electric hand mixer. This whips in a bit of air, making the dip lighter and smoother.
