The request was for three tiers.Β She didn't have any preference on decorations, no extra colors or special flavors. Β She didn't care how it was shaped or anything. Β Talk about an easy-to-please bride!
So, I made a white wedding cake.Β Simple and elegant.
I made a huge gum paste bow to go on top (see my how to make a poofy fondant bow tutorial here) and wrapped ribbons around the bottoms of the tiers.Β Simple.
Oh, and I brushed a little white and silver pearl dust on the bow and ribbons...but it's not all that "visible".Β I thought a different background would help, but it didn't.Β I think I just didn't add enough to get real sparkle.
I played withΒ my camera, indoors and outside, trying to get the best light, but none of the pictures captured it exactly the way I wanted.Β I'm still learning.
For a moment, I considered adding the flowers from the miniature wedding cake, butΒ took them off again.
I liked it better without them.Β Just simple and pretty.
This is a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream, covered in marshmallow fondant and decorated with a gum paste bow and fondant ribbons.
What was your wedding cake like?Β Did you go for simple or lots of embellishments?Β Oh, and do you have any camera tips?Β

Beautiful as always!!! Thank you for the bow tutorial. I have the first part of the process drying right now. Cake sizes really confuse me so I'm wondering what size cakes are the tiers in this wedding cake? Thanks Rose!

I made this cake YEARS ago, but I think it was 6" and 10" circles, then a 14" square.
