Valentine’s is only a couple of days away so I thought it would be the perfect time to share this Floral Heart Princess Cake & Heart Cake Pops.
I made this a couple of weeks ago for sisters celebrating their 2nd & 4th birthdays! The little girls at the party were all dressing up and being princesses and the birthday girls had pink dresses with little embroidered hearts made of flowers!!
I actually just posted their cakes from last year a couple of days ago.. the Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Party! Anywho, back to this cake….
The best feature – in my opinion, was the pretty flower heart wreath on the bottom. Making the tiny flowers was so much fun and it was just so delicate and girly. Also in this picture you can see (barely) that I used a floral impression mat to give texture to the fondant covered board.
At first I had the top tier blank, but my husband felt like it needed something, so I decided to add the tiny flowers and as it turns out, he was right! The flowers on top were the perfect touch!!
For the topper, I made this tiara out of gum paste. I let it dry overnight, then sprayed it with edible gold spray. When it was dry, I rolled small pink pearls from the same fondant on the bottom tier and “glued” them to the tiara with melted candy melts.

Here are a few other details about this cake:
- It was 5″ and 7″ round tiers baked in Magic Line Pans. The bottom tier had 3 layers of cake and the top tier had 2 layers of cake.
- The cake was all strawberry cake with vanilla butterceam.
- It was covered and decorated with homemade marshmallow fondant.
- The tiara was gum paste.
In addition to the cake, I also made 50 Pink Heart Cake Pops. 🙂 These were made with vanilla cake (see how to make the cake ball dough here). I roll out the dough, covered it in plastic wrap, then cut the hearts out with a heart cookie cutter. Laying the plastic wrap over the top actually have the hearts the rounded edges. After they were chilled, I dipped them pink candy melts. I loved the way they turned out!
