While it’s listed as a beginner course, I believe many skill levels would enjoy it. Elizabeth LaBau of SugarHero.com shows us how to make fun, easy birthday cakes with different candies, sprinkles, and chocolate that are readily available!
Her designs are easy to pull together, but have a wow factor! Just look at this adorable Ice Cream Scoop Cake she show us how to make!
I love that Elizabeth encourages us to have fun with the cake. All the cakes are buttercream, but tells us not to stress over getting it perfect since the designs with the candies and sprinkles will cover up imperfections. I like her teaching style – like you’re a friend sitting in the kitchen chatting with her while she works!
One of my favorite parts of each lesson was the “One Minute Cupcake” where she shows how to make a cupcake version of each cake design…
Aren’t those candy butterflies so beautiful!? You’ll learn how to make those, too!
Some popular trends right now are drip cakes, metallics, and feathers. Elizabeth shows us how to achieve each of those looks in the chocolate lessons!
I absolutely love the feathers on this cake and can’t wait to make some of my own now!
Here are a couple of other cakes featured in the class… this first one perfect for Valentines:
And the one at the bottom? Perfect for any child’s party!! I love it that you don’t have to be a professional at all to do these designs! Any mommy at home can make these cakes for her kids!!
