I’ve done a lot of buttercream roses cakes… pink ones and white ones and yellow ones and purple ones and even a blue one and severeal multi-colored ones… but this is my first green ombre buttercream roses cake!
And I really like the way it turned out! When I got the order and asked what Granny liked (I don’t know what her real name was, so I’m sticking with Granny)… green was “Granny’s” favorite color, so I figured why not?
I piped on the roses with a Wilton 1M tip and I used leaf green Americolor gel coloring in the vanilla buttercream to get the color. I added in more white as I piped on each row of roses so that it got lighter and lighter toward the top.
When it was finished, I toppeed it off with a fondant plaque (that cookie cutter came from CheapCookieCutters.com or you can find some on Amazon) and then piped on “Granny” in buttercream.
You can maybe see the fading color or “ombre” effect in this picture!?
The cake was an 8″ round cake, the flavor was vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. And that’s it… I don’t think there’s much else to tell you 🙂
What do you think about the green roses? Do you have any questions about this cake? Leave me a comment and I’ll help out if I can!
