How about some PINK? For this Hello Kitty Cake, Mom wanted as much pink as I could squeeze onto one cake! So, I loaded her up!! The design was based partly on this Hello Kitty Birthday Party theme, and also partly on a picture chosen by the birthday girl!
So to match the theme, I added balloons behind Hello Kitty on top of the cake.
And to further tie it together with lots of pink, I added pink hearts and stars and a big pink 5!
For the borders I used this FMM Straight Frill Cutters set. For the hearts I used the heart from this Wilton Crinkle Cutters Set. And for the stars, I used a cutter from this Wilton Stars set. OH, and the letters... I love this new set of letter cutters I got a couple of months ago... it's the Ateco Alphabet Cookie Cutters (although I can't imagine using them for cookies because they'd be way too small!).
This cake was all hot pink vanilla with vanilla buttercream. The fondant was all homemade marshmallow fondant... and I made Hello Kitty out of marshmallow fondant with some Tylose powder mixed in to help it harden.
I'm actually pretty disappointed about my Hello Kitty project.... I started taking pictures when I was making her with a plan to show you how I did it, but somewhere along the way I forgot to keep taking pics, so I only have about half a tutorial! Maybe next time!
Did I miss anything? If you have questions about how to make this cake, please leave them in the comments!!
