Description

This quick homemade baking powder comes together in 2 minutes with a couple of simple ingredients you probably already have. It’s an easy, aluminum-free baking powder substitute that works just like store-bought in biscuits, pancakes, muffins, and quick breads!

Ingredients

Scale

Instructions

  1. Add the cream of tartar, baking soda, and cornstarch (if using) to a small bowl.
  2. Whisk until completely blended, pressing out any lumps.
  3. Use right away in place of baking powder, measuring the same amount your recipe calls for.
  4. Store leftovers in a labeled airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 months.

Notes

  • This is single acting baking powder, so bake right after mixing.
  • Don’t store it in the freezer or refrigerator, since moisture causes clumping.
