Today over at CakeJournal, I’m sharing a tutorial on How to Make a Slice of Watermelon Cake Topper.
Nothing screams summer to me more than a fresh dripping slice of watermelon, so when Ginnie, a great friend from college, told me the theme of her twin girls birthday party, I was so excited to do something new and fun and soooo summery!
I have to tell you though… the cake up there is not finished. I added a couple of more details to really give the cake a finished look…including a plaque with names and a border. Oh, and there were super sweet watermelon cupcakes (super sweet like “awwww, how cute!” not super sweet like “sugar coma”… ha!!) to go with the cake, but I’ll wait and share those tomorrow.
For now, please hop over to CakeJournal and find out how I made the slice of watermelon to go on top of the cake. It is 100% edible (made from rice cereal treats!) and not at all hard to put together!
Do you eat watermelon in the summer time? We do!! I love to put a fresh one in the refrigerator and let it get ice cold, then slice it up and enjoy out in the grass with the kiddos!
