Other than my husband working all weekend (which we both hate), this past weekend was really, really great! It was super busy but loaded with fun!
I made this Hulk Fist Cake on Friday, then Saturday spent the whole day geocaching with my Mama, five of my kiddos and my niece, then Sunday was church and an ice cream social + a celebration for our pastor and his family who've been at our church for 15 years. I have lots of pics, so stay with me... first, the Hulk Fist Cake:

Before I share all of our weekend fun, here are a few details about the cake:
- (3) layers of 8" round strawberry cake filled and frosted with cream cheese buttercream
- I wrapped the cake in gray homemade marshmallow fondant then used a rectangle cutter to make the brick pattern and a dresden tool to mark it up.
- I dusted the cake with black petal dust to give it dimension
- The fist is made from rice cereal treats covered in green modeling chocolate and hand-sculpted.
- The number and letters were cut with these Wilton cutters.
- I followed this tutorial to cover the board and wrap it with ribbon.
Alrighty, so the cake was picked up Friday afternoon and after that, I had my whole weekend freeeeee!!! Yippee!
All day Saturday (literally 9+ hours), me, my Mama, my five youngest kids and my niece set out geocaching:
I lost count but I know we found more than 10 treasures and we traveled more than 200 miles. It was really, really hot but since most of our time was spent driving, it wasn't too bad and we had a blast!
We had pizza (on the go), piles of snacks and water and lots of adventure. I missed having my hubby (he was at work) and oldest son Joshua (he was at Mississippi Comic Con) with us, but still... loads of fun!
Just for kicks... here's Joshua, as Ford Pines of Gravity Falls. If you're as "in the dark" as I am about who that is... Joshua is all the way to the left in the pic. I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about that cartoon or the character or cosplay... but he had fun and he met some other peeps who knew exactly who he was (and asked for pics with him)... so I'm thrilled he got to go!
And last but not least - we had another busy day on Sunday. After our regular church service, we recognized our pastor and his wife, who've been at our church for 15 years! Sunday evening we had an ice cream social (with 4 flavors of homemade ice cream) and cake. Of course there was CAKE!
There were several ladies bringing cake for the ice cream social, so I didn't really need to make a big cake.. just a small one to honor them and say "thank you" for all they've given to our church.
A few details... it was three 8" layers of white almond sour cream cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. I used Not Just Cakes by Annie cutters to make the numbers out of candy melts and covered them with silver disco dust. You can order a stand like mine here.
After all that, I crashed early Sunday night, but I can truly say that it was a full, blessed weekend! What have YOU been up to?

I love your cake you did for your pastor. What type spatula did you use to get the pattern? Did you start at the top or the bottom for the pattern? Thanks!

I used the small Wilton 9" offset spatula and I start at the bottom and spin the cake on my turntable, gradually moving up!
