I just had to share this with you – my cakey friends… I was on a podcast!! More specifically, the Angelfoods.net Podcast Show!
So, I’m about to show my ignorance and how behind the times I am… I never listen to podcasts. I’ve only ever listened to one that I can remember. At all. Ever.
But when my friend Rebekah from Angelfoods.net (and Cake Business School) asked if she could interview me for her podcast, I couldn’t say no.
And clearly not listening to podcasts didn’t deter me… we talked for almost an hour and 20 minutes!! Wowzers!
Of course it took me weeks to find space in my always busy life to actually do the interview, but thankfully she was patient and persistant and we were finally able to meet up. It doesn’t help that she’s in Australia and I’m here in Mississippi, so lining up our timezones was also a challenge 😉
When it was all said and done though – I was so happy I did it! I love sharing my cake business story and the details of why I blog. If I can inspire and help even one person, then my job is done!
I also just love chatting with Rebekah and having her as a friend in this crazy blogging world – she’s such a blessing and inspiration!
If you want to learn some details about my cake journey that I’ve never written about – and also hear about my kids and my blog and I’m sure some things that I’ll be embarrassed I said (don’t tell me if I did though – I doubt I can listen to myself so I’m just going to pretend the whole interview was faaabulous and not embarrassing at all).
Here are some specifics that we talked about:
13 years old and getting a cake decorating kit from Walmart + falling in love with cake
how started getting customers + orders
200-300 cake orders per year!
learning to say NO (getting burned out)
ADVICE for cake decorators
RAISING her cake prices + having time OFF
how pins + posts went VIRAL!
PASSION + NICHE for cake + blogging
Okay, enough rambling from me. Click on over and LISTEN for yourself!
