Description

These Instant Pot Pinto Beans are one of my favorite things to keep on hand for quick meals throughout the week. This easy pinto bean recipe makes flavorful beans with very little effort, and they’re perfect for a simple side dish, tacos, taco soup, or chili.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound dry pinto beans
  • 5 cups beef broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse and drain pinto beans removing any dirt
  2. Pour into Instant Pot liner and cover with beef broth
  3. Add in seasonings
  4. Place lid on your Instant Pot and set to seal.
  5. Choose Manual for 55 minutes
  6. Once completed cooking, manually release pressure.

Notes

  • Different brands of pressure cookers can vary slightly, so your exact cooking time may differ a bit.
  • If you prefer softer beans for refried beans, add an extra 5-10 minutes of pressure cooking next time.
  • For even faster cook times, you can soak the beans in cold water for 8-12 hours before cooking.
  • Avoid filling the pot past the recommended water level when cooking beans.
  • This pinto bean recipe can easily be doubled if your pressure cooker is large enough.
