Hey… it’s the weekend ya’ll! !! Yay!! This post is a little later than normal, but I’m finally sharing the March Who Takes the Cake? Winner: La Cakerie!
So, without any more delay, here’s the cake and I’m going to tell you about the caker behind the art!
And her winning cake was this amazing Modern Peacock Cake. I have to say… it was definitely worthy of the win… it’s gorgeous, right!?
I asked Sandra to share a little about herself and her business:
Hi! My name is Sandra, I’m a new mom and a self taught cake artist From Mascouche located on the north shore of Montreal, Quebec. I started cake decorating along with my best friend as a kid, her mother transmitted us her passion. Back then is was all about buttercream ! But a few years ago I made my first fondant cake and I was hooked! I made cakes for family and friends and I got a few orders here and there. Then my entourage got me into thinking about doing this as a living.
Three years ago we bought our first home which was perfect for starting up our cake business. With its own kitchen, office and atelier, La Cakerie was born! Now I’m a mom juggling with my two babies (our business and our 3 months old, Antoine) I love when I get to challenge myself with out-of-the-ordinary cakes such as 3-D cake or gravity defying cake. I also love to personalize cake by mixing all sorts of themes within the same cake. And of course I really like to create for brides and grooms who come to our atelier in order to design a unique cake that really represent them and their wedding.
In addition to the Modern Peacock Cake, I asked Sandra to share some of her favorite creations with us! Here are a few of her favorites:
