I wish I could give you paragraphs and paragraphs of details about this Mud-Riding Jeep Groom’s Cake, but the truth is, I guess I was so nervous about doing it that the whole thing is a blur to me.
I can tell you that the Jeep was sitting on a 9×13 sheet cake and that the entire thing was edible except for the windshield and the supports for the roll bars and windshield.
I wish I had pics of it being cut but the groom was so thrilled to find out it was ALL cake! Here’s one that was snapped when i was making it:
I was carving out a space for the tire so it would sit flush with the side of the Jeep…. if only I had taken lots more pics, huh?
Anyway – the cake was all chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream on the inside. Then I used black Satin Ice and brown Satin Ice fondant for the bulk of the decorating. It had a few skewers and cake board between the layers for support, but nothing hard-core.
Overall, I was really happy with the cake and it turned out a little bigger than I initially anticipated. Here are a couple of pics for size reference:
And here’s a picture of this cake plus the wedding cake all loaded up and ready to leave for delivery (about 45 miles from my house):
And just for kicks, because I probably won’t write a separate post about it, here’s a picture of the wedding cake all set up. I loved it that they used an old dresser for the wedding cake:
I know I didn’t share many details this time around but feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer if I can! Happy Caking!
