Wow - what a crazy couple of weeks I've had. I'm still not on top of things (clearly - since I'm not in the habit of posting cakes at nearly 10pm), but things are looking up!
SO, this cake was for Emily, a sweet young girl that we go to church with. Emily designed her own cake... a Neon Stripes Birthday Cake with a Hot Pink Poofy Bow. Her Mama called me and told me exactly what she wanted and I did my very best to bring her dream cake to life!
Sometimes I like doing the really big flashy cakes and sometimes I like doing the small simple cakes... this small cake happens to be one of my favorites of all time!
I started by doing the different colored stripes around the cake horizontally. I used my FMM Ribbon cutter to cut them - different colors and widths, then used a method from the Craftsy Clean & Simple Cake design class to apply them to the cake (clearly I haven't mastered it yet, but this cake was my first try).
Probably my most favorite thing about this cake was the hot pink poofy bow! I love doing poofy bows and I love pink and well... she also asked for glitter on this one, so that made it even better!
I followed my tutorial here for How to Make a Poofy Bow and after it was finished, I used silver luster dust to give it a little sparkle! I don't hint for compliments often ... but isn't it just sooo pretty??
So, do you like the bright colors? the horizontal stripes? Do you have any questions? I love to hear from readers, so please comment below!
