Description

The holiday season brings with it endless opportunities for festive baking, and these Grinch Oreo Balls are the perfect addition to your collection of holiday treats. Whether you’re hosting holiday parties, attending a Christmas party, or simply want to spread a little holiday cheer during the Christmas season, this easy recipe combines simple ingredients to create bite-sized treats that will steal the show – just like the famous character from Dr. Seuss’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Ingredients

Scale
  • 44 OREO cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 15 oz light green candy melts
  • Red candy hearts, for topping

Instructions

    1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to hold the rolled balls while they chill. Add the  Oreos (filling included) to a food processor and pulse into fine crumbs. If you don’t have a processor, place the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin until you have fine crumbs.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy (1–2 minutes). Add the Oreo crumbs and mix until a soft, dough-like mixture forms.

    3. Use a cookie scoop to portion the mixture, then roll between your hands to form smooth balls, about 1½ inches each. Place them on the lined baking sheet. You should get about 40–45 truffles.

    4. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours so they firm up for dipping. If you’re in a hurry, freeze for about 30 minutes, but don’t let them freeze solid.

    5. Place the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each one, until smooth. If the coating is too thick, stir in a tiny bit of vegetable or coconut oil. You can also melt them in a double boiler if you prefer. Reserve about 1/2 cup of chocolate to drizzle over the top.

    6. Remove the chilled balls from the fridge. Dip each one into the melted coating using a fork or toothpick, gently tap to remove excess, then place back on the parchment paper.

    7. Place the reserved candy coating in a piping bag (or plastic zip top bag), snip off the tip or corner and drizzle lines over the OREO balls.
    8. While the coating is still wet, press red candy hearts on top of each one.

    9. Chill for 10–15 minutes to let the coating set.
    10. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
