Ole Miss Hello Kitty Cheerleader Football Cake. Yeah – did you get all that? When my sweet customer initially told me the theme, I’m not gonna lie. I was a little worried.
How in the world was I going to combine all of that into a cohesive design? But after some thought and a few sketches… I pulled it together!
We went almost totally with the Ole Miss colors – blue, red and white! I used my funky alphabet cutters to put Anna Howell’s name on the bottom tier and hand cut the back color to make them pop!
For each tier, I added a pearl border. I made those using the large (14mm) silicone pearl mold by First Impressions.
And then there was the topper. I was sooo worried about getting Hello Kitty “right”. Anna Howell’s mom sent me her invite to use as a guide…
I decided to do my best to make her cheerleader outfit the same as the invite. I also worked for a couple of days getting different layers added to the pom-poms (using my extruder again) – wanting them to be as poofy as possible!
A few other things I used to make this cake:
- FMM Ribbon cutter for the stripes on the top tier
- Ateco Diamond Cutters to do the harlequin pattern
- Satin Ice Gum Paste to make the Hello Kitty Cheerleader – so she’d dry hard!
- Satin Ice Red Vanilla fondant for all the red decorations
- Homemade Marshmallow Fondant for all the other decorations
Do you have any questions about this cake? Please leave them in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer and help out!
