Over the past couple of years, I've done lots of owl cakes (you can browse through them here)... but this is the first time I've done an Owl Cake for Twins 1st Birthday.
Even better, the customer drew me a picture of what she wanted, so it was truly a custom cake from her imagination!
She used pink, green and blue plates with white polka dots for her party - so she wanted to use polka dots in the design. (I wanted a picture of the plates she used, but couldn't find one.. that picture of hanging fan decorations was the only thing I could find with all three colors together!)
She also wanted the owl, of course! Just a small one on the front, but so cute!
And the pink bow for the side... love it!
We talked about a few options for the number on top, but she settled on a polka dot version to tie together the design from the bottom of the cake to the top.
Since this cake was for her twin girls, she added two smash cakes to the order! They were done entirely with buttercream decorations!
The cake was vanilla cake and chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling and frosting and all the decorations were homemade marshmallow fondant. I added Tylose to the fondant for the bow so it would stiffen up and hold it’s shape!

Hi Rose... I love this cake and have a customer who wants something similar. What size cakes are each of these ( 10incn and 8inch or what?) Thanks for the help!
Rose
I used 6" and 8" pans for this cake! 🙂
Denise
Do you know how many that typically serves?
Rose
This cake has 32-36 servings.
Denise
Great... thank you so much... You do great work! I am working my way to be that good! I will do a 10 inch and an 8 inch most likely! Thanks for your help!

What colors did you use for the fondant? Wilton or another? I want the same colors on my babies cake! So cute!
Rose
I always use Americolor gel colors, but I'm gonna have to guess on which ones for this cake because it was awhile back. The green and pink were probably Electric Green and Electric Pink. For the purple - I think it was Violet - or maybe a mixture of Violet and Regal Purple.

Love the balls around the cake. Are those gumballs or you made those also?
Rose
Those are balls of fondant!

Do you ever sell and ship your fondant figures? I have ordered cake items on etsy before but would love to purchase the owl cake items!
Rose
Not very often - what specifically are you interested in and when do you need it?
Maydie
The owl, branch, dots, & #1 for the top. Not till Nov 22nd
Rose
No, I wouldn't be able to do that, I'm sorry.
Annie
Would you mind to tell me how you made the owl, or where I could find the tutorial? It's adorable! Thanks!
