Today I’m sharing an Owl & Paisleys Cake and Cupcake Tower. This cake can cupcake display just make me happy! I love the owl, the colors, the bright cupcakes!
Let’s start by talking about the cake. She requested that the colors be hot pink, lime green and turquoise. So this was a 6″ round vanilla cake covered in electric pink vanilla buttercream. I used Americolor Electric Gel colors for this cake.
The owl was done with rice cereal treats covered in candy melts, then marshmallow fondant (sort of like how I made the cowboy hat). I didn’t do step-by-step pics of the owl but here are a couple of snapshots I took while working…
That’s it… seriously the only 3 pictures I took. Sorry :-/ Anyway, I doweled the owl head to the owl body to put it together, then added the details.
And then there were the cupcakes. They were also vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. I used my faithful 1M tip to pipe it on and I always love this billowy, ruffly look for frosting cupcakes. It’s easy, yet beautiful!
I baked 4 dozen of them for this order, then I also rented out my stand so that she could display them like this at her party. This is my favorite Smart Baker round stand.
And that’s it! Every time I do one of these small cake/cupcake displays I fall more in love with the way they look. You can see all of the cake and cupcake displays I’ve done here!
What do you think? Do you have any questions about this cake or the cupcakes? Leave me a comment and I’ll answer and help out if I can!
