Wednesday morning my brother Jake called and asked if I might want to do a pink ladybug cake for a lady in his office for a baby shower. It was to be a last minute thing, but someone really needed a cake, and he didn't know if I was ready for cake making so soon after the baby.
A month ago I would've told you that I wouldn't be doing a cake with a 2 week old baby, but honestly, I was thrilled to have a cake order!
Since Asher was born in the middle of flu season (and Mississippi tops as one of the worst states) and the peak time for RSV, our pediatrician told us to keep him as isolated as possible until he's 2 months old. This means Mommy is suffering from some crazy cabin fever and a touch of baby blues.
I want to be out sharing our new sweet little man with our family and friends...going to church and grabbing the great deals in stores. But I can't do all that stuff right now.
So, the opportunity to do a cake was a welcome change of pace...it gave me a distraction and something to focus on other than being depressed!
Anyway, so all I had to go on was this picture of a crib blanket. Initially, I thought I'd be doing a pink version of this ladybug cake I posted the other day, but instead, they wanted a sheet cake with a ladybug on it.
This was my interpretation...
