I finally got my computer up and running after it busted that last time and I've been trying to sort out my pictures again. In that process, I came across this little Pink Minnie Mouse Birthday cake that I never posted.
This cake was done for Riley, the daughter of some family friends. She absolutely loves Minnie Mouse, so I wanted to make a very "Minnie" cake.
This cake vanilla cake, baked in a 10" round pan and the Minnie Head on top was done in the Wilton Sports ball pan. I used a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter to make the Minnie heads on the side of the cake (I just added a bow!).
The letters on the cake were all done with my Funky Alphabet Tappit Cutters. The pink and white fondant was homemade marshmallow fondant and the black was Satin Ice Black Vanilla fondant.
I added some Tylose to the fondant for the bow so that it would dry and harden and hold it's shape! I have a tutorial for a similar bow here.
For the Minnie ears, I added Tylose to the black fondant and cut out the circles a few days ahead. After they were dried very hard, I glued lollipop sticks to the back of them using sugar glue and a covering the stick with a slightly wider strip of fondant to hold it on.
And that's all the details I have for you today! Do you love Mickey and/or Minnie Mouse cakes? I've done quite a few of them and you can browse through them by clicking here and scrolling down (click "older posts" at the bottom to see more!).
Oh, and do you have any questions about this cake? Please leave them in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer!

Wow your cakes are absolutely amazing!!!! I was wondering how many people did this cake serve? Was it 3 10" layers you used? Please respond ASAP 🙂 Thank you so much! Your work is incredible!
Rose
I only used two 10" round cakes. That's about 28-38 servings, depending on serving size. Thank you for your sweet compliments!

Dear Rose - I would love to make this Minnie Cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday in red and black theme. I don't have the Wilton ball pan though for the head, could I bake some in a pyrex bowl, or would you say just to crumble some cake with frosting to get the desired head shape>?
Rose
Yes, I would use a 6" Pyrex bowl if I didn't have the ball pan! I hope it turns out great for you 🙂

How much fondant you use??
Rose
I'm sorry - I don't weigh out my fondant for each cake. I make multiple batches each week and just use it as I go. To get an estimate, I use the Wilton chart and/or the chart on The Mat and I always plan to have some extra!

Hi... how many days before we need to make a cake before birthday party? Do I make a day ahead and keep refrigerate?
Parinjini Gosai
In between the three or two layers do we have to frosting first before we do fondant?
Terri
Rose, thank you so much for describing your "how to's" so that beginners can do the project. I'm making a Minnie Mouse cake for the first time and the bow has been driving me crazy. Your step by step instructions made all the difference. Thank you! Toodles!
Rose
You're very welcome!
