I absolutely loved this cake… and so did my boys! For Caleb’s birthday (not my Caleb), his Mom wanted a BIG Rocket Ship Cake!
And when I say big – I mean BIG! This cake was four (4) layers of 8″ round cakes plus the domed top. Then I put vanilla buttercream filling between each layer for a total height of around 15-16 inches!
See that little bottle of Wilton Sprinkles next to the cake? It’s 3.75″…
Anywho – I stacked this cake “double-barrel” style and then used the Wilton Wonder Mold pan to make the top.
For the letters of Caleb’s name, I used the White Plastic Alphabet Cutters… and for the number, I used a similar number cutter which is no longer available (as far as I can find!).
A few more details…
- I used my FMM Ribbon Cutter for the borders (my favorite ribbon cutter!!).
- I added Tylose to my marshmallow fondant to make the wings and let them dry for 3-4 days.
- I used Americolor Electric Colors to get the bright green and blue!
- The cake was vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and filling.
