This cake was done back in January for a beautiful young girl name Brooklyn who was turning 14!
I'm always proud and happy for young ladies who are athletic and fit... I was a math nerd and since I hate to sweat. Sports were never really on my radar. That's probably why I need to lose a bunch of weight (and am failing at it!).
Anyway, this is not about me. So, back to the cake. It was a 9" round pan with the Wilton Soccer Ball pan for the ball on top. I made lots of stars on wires (like this) to stand behind the "14" and I made ribbons for the borders.
I used my favorite Funky Alphabet cutters for the letters!
For the actual ball... I wish I could tell you it was easy, but it took hours of trial and error to get all those hexagons and pentagons the right proportions to fit together. Sorry - my math nerd self is showing through! My friend Shelly and I worked and worked and worked on them.
This cake would work for a boy or girl - just change the colors for their personality or school...
