Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 15 ounces chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 16 ounces frozen lima beans
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. Pour the chicken broth into a medium-sized pot. Add the onion powder and garlic powder. Stir in the frozen lima beans.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low, place lid on the pot, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring gently occasionally.
  4. If needed, add more broth or enough water to keep the beans covered while cooking.
  5. Drain the beans and return them to the pot.
  6. Stir in the butter, sugar, salt, and black pepper until the butter is melted.
  7. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes before serving, if desired.
