Who Takes the Cake? October Contest: Submit your Cakes Now! This post will serve as my Day 13 post for the Write 31 Days Challenge… you can catch up on all of my other posts here and check out my personal blog here.
The theme this month is SPORTS!! It’s Fall here in the US and that means the beginning of Football season, but since football is not for everyone… I’m going to include all sports!
These can be birthday cakes, baby shower cakes, groom’s cakes…. you get the idea! You can also submit cakes, cake pops, cupcakes, and cookies! Any decorated sweet treat will do!
So… any questions? Leave me a comment!
I’ve said it before, but I’ll mention it again… it’s at my discretion (and the discretion of my team) what will qualify or disqualify a cake for the contest.
I just want you to understand that I’m looking for the best cakes! I’m looking for a beautiful cake with a pretty, clean background, good photography, and something that really catches my attention (see my full explanation here on the FAQ page).
Keep reading below to see how to enter…
Who Takes the Cake? October Contest
I will keep the widget open for 5 full days so that you can all get your pictures submitted! And then once the submission period is closed, at least 12 cakes (or other sweets) will be chosen for voting (possibly up to 24) and readers will have ONE WEEK to vote and choose their favorite!
You can click here to the “Who Takes the Cake?” FAQ page for all the details but here are the highlights:
- One submission per person per month and it must be your photo that you took of your cake (ie., no professional photographer photos unless you are a professional photographer). A link is required to a place where the cake is already published (your Facebook page – make sure it’s a public photo, Flickr, CakeCentral, your blog or website, etc.).
- After submissions close, at least 12 of the best cakes/photos will be chosen and posted in a separate post where my readers (and your friends and family and…anybody else) will vote for their favorite.
- I will open up submissions for 5 days ONLY, then the voting will be open for 7 days and the winner will be the photo with the most votes at the end!
- OH – and sign up for my email newsletter here to get all of my posts and cake contest announcements in your inbox! (that’s not a requirement… just a happy suggestion!)
PLEASE NOTE: YOUR CAKES WILL NOT APPEAR WHEN SUBMITTED – ONLY THOSE CHOSEN TO BE VOTED ON WILL BE PUBLISHED NEXT WEEK! ALSO, ALL PHOTOS WILL BE PUBLISHED ON FACEBOOK AND “LIKES” WILL COUNT AS ADDITIONAL VOTES , SO BY SUBMITTING YOUR PHOTO, YOU’RE GIVING PERMISSION TO PUBLISH ON FACEBOOK.
You can also submit cookies, cupcakes, cake pops… all the sweets qualify!
As a hobby baker, I don’t have a fancy camera or backrops for my cakes so I know my photos aren’t top notch, Hopefully the photography isn’t weighted too heavily in your decisons so that I may stand a chance of ring selected.
That should say “being selected” not “ring selected”. Darn autocorrect.
Hi Rose, this is only the 2nd time I’ve entered the contest. I wasn’t able to find the chosen cakes to vote on when I entered last time. Is it possible for you to provide me a link to the page where voting takes place? Also, if your cake is chosen to be voted on how do you know? Is there an email notification?
Thank you
I suppose you can scratch the portion of my comment about how we’ll know if our cakes are chosen as I just re-read the rules (should have done that first, lol). However, I would still very much appreciate a link or instructions on how to get to the page where the voting takes place,
Thanks again.
I can’t notify everyone personally, but if you subscribe to my emails, you’ll get the post in your inbox. I send it out with each new post, including when the voting goes live. The only entreis I contact personally are those who are chosen as finalists. The other option would be to check back to Rose Bakes regularly (it’ll be on the homepage when it goes live) or you can check this page with all of my contest posts.
Thanks for responding, Rose. I am a subscriber to your newsletter already and I look forward to every email. I must have just not seen the link. I apologize. I certainly understand what a monumental task it would be to notify to everyone personally of the link. Sorry for the trouble.
Sure – happy to help! Also, usually the voting is posted within 2 days of the end of submissions.
Wonderful! I’ll definitely be watching closely for the voting to go live. Thank you again. Have a blessed weekend.
