I have a tale to tell you tonight… about my Thanksgiving cupcakes and my little cupcake thief.
This story really started a few weeks ago one of my customers asked me on Facebook if I’d be doing Thanksgiving cupcakes this year. And since I did them last year, I thought, “Why not?” – that seemed like a great idea!
BUT, I didn’t have any good pics of Thanksgiving-y cupcakes… so of course, I had to make some to photograph.
I used some extra chocolate cake batter from an order I already had and baked up a dozen chocolate cupcakes.
To keep them simple, I just topped them with vanilla buttercream, a touch of orange sanding sugar, and some homemade marshmallow fondant leaves (cut with these Wilton Leaves & Acorns cutters).
Anywho… then it was time to take pictures, but I had let the day get away from me and it was dark out. Add to that that my living room is a disaster because we’re painting.
So I had to set up my Ego lights (that I got for FREE with Swagbucks!) and made me a little mini photo booth… on the floor (the table I use is not where it normally is due to the painting).
Well, the cupcakes don’t look that great in the funky light and I think the tablecloth I used was the wrong color… and well, I’m not in love with the photos.
But I am in love with what happened next.
I’m standing directly over my cupcakes looking down through my camera lens when I see this….
then this….
so I decide to just grab some fun shots of my little Asher and see what happened.
I’m so glad I did! It’s moments (and photos) like these that I can treasure for life…. he first just puts his other hand down between his knees and just looks up and me and grins.
Then he took a BIG bite!
And licked his fingers!! At this point, he thought about giving it back to me…
But when I didn’t take it, he sat down and took a rest…
Then had another big bite of frosting (I missed that shot).
Yep – he was done.
And he put the cupcake back. The end.
Okay – so maybe that was anti-climatic… but I just had to share! Isn’t he just the most yummy, gorgeous baby ever? Well, of course along with my other 5 babies! hehe.
If you are local (here in tiny town Mississippi), you can check out my post on Facebook to order some of these Thanksgiving cupcakes. If not, you can find the recipes I use below.
