Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Cinnamon Rolls

  • 2 and 1/4 teaspoons of Active Dry Yeast
  • 1/2 cup of Sugar (divided into 1 tsp. and remaining sugar)
  • 1 cup Warm Milk
  • 1/3 cup Softened Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 4 to 4 1/2 cups of Flour
  • 1 tablespoon of Royal Blue Food Coloring
  • 1 cup of Finely Processed Oreos
  • 2 teaspoons of Cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoons of Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 stick of Softened Butter
  • 1/2 cup of Heavy Cream

For the Icing & Toppings

  • 1/3 cup of Softened Butter
  • 1 1/2 cups of Powdered Sugar
  • 2 oz. of Cream Cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Vanilla
  • 1/2 cup of Crushed Oreos (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup of Crushed Chocolate Chip Cookies (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Add the yeast, 1 tsp of the sugar, and 1 cup of warm (not hot) milk to your stand mixer.  Let sit for 5 minutes, until the mixture starts to get frothy.
  2. Add the butter, eggs, salt, remaining sugar, and 4 cups of flour to the stand mixer.  Use the dough hook attachment to mix on medium speed.  The dough should start to come together. Just before it starts to come together add in food coloring. If it’s still sticky (to the touch or sticking to the bowl), add a few tablespoons of flour at a time and continue to mix until the dough feels smooth (but not dry).
  3. Dump the dough out for a minute (into your hand or on a plate) and lightly oil the mixer bowl.  Put the dough back in, cover the mixer bowl with a damp paper towel or kitchen towel, and let sit to rise for an hour.
  4. Combine processed Oreos, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a bowl. This will be your filling.
  5. When the dough is ready, roll it out on a lightly floured surface.  It should be a large rectangle, around a quarter inch thick.
  6. Cover the top of your dough with your ½ stick of softened butter. Sprinkle your filling mixture on top and pat down gently.
  7. Position the dough so that the long sides of the rectangle are on the top and bottom in front of you.  Roll up tightly.
  8. Cut about 1 inch off the ends of rolled dough and discard. The ends lack filling and this makes for even cuts
  9. Now, cut the remaining rolled dough into 12 equal slices.
  10. Grease your 9×13 baking dish and fill the bottom with the heavy cream.
  11. Cover your baking dish for 30 minutes and allow rolls to rise once more.
  12. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  13. Once your rolls are done rising, bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until slightly golden.
  14. While the cinnamon rolls are baking, make the icing. Add ⅓ cup of softened butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese, and vanilla. Mix until well combined and smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk.
  15. After the cinnamon rolls are baked, allow them to cool for 5 minutes then spread the cream cheese icing over the top of the cinnamon roll.
  16. Top with crumbled Oreos, and chocolate chip cookies.
  17. Serve and enjoy! You will never make regular cinnamon rolls again!
