In just a minute I'll tell you about this Western Wedding Cake. But first...
... as I mentioned over at RoseAtwater.com last night, I've had the hardest time getting "into" blogging for the last couple of weeks. I think it's partly been busyness in general, coupled with some sickness and a touch of sadness (depression, being down in the dumps...) over some personal things going on.
I promised you guys that I'd be sharing this cake nearly two weeks ago on Facebook and I'm just now getting around to finishing it up and hitting publish.... oh well. I guess that's one of the upsides of blogging for a living - you can take a break whenever you want and there's nobody to say you have to get back to it asap (even though it's bad for stats and traffic to take this kind of break... just sayin').
Anyway, hopefully I can snap out of it and get back to writing this week. With the holidays upon us, I have so much I want to share. Recipes and cute tutorials and a couple of cakes that I've recently done.
But for today, I'm finally going to share the Western Wedding Cake. This cake went along with the Western Style Groom's Cake that I posted before.
For this wedding cake, the tiers were 6" and 10" round and the flavor was vanilla. I covered them in homemade marshmallow fondant.
I used oval cookie cutters to make the horse shoes (cutting out the gaps) and then tiny round piping tips to make the holes. I mixed Nu silver luster dust with a few drops of vodka and painted them silver.
I used my extruder and chocolate fondant to make the barbed wire border. For the flowers, I used a daisy cutter, a flower impression mold to make the center, and a gum paste tool to mark the petals.
Kathy had a topper picked out that she really loved (from a photo) but I couldn't find that exact one. I ended up finding this one on eBay and ordering it for her!
And that's it! Do you have any questions about this cake? Leave me a comment and I'll help out if I can!
Denise
Too cute!!! 😀 I especially loved the addition of the barbed wire and galvanized bucket too.
