Ahhhh, it’s Sunday afternoon after a very long week and I thought I’d give you a quick rundown of what I did this week!
First up, if you’re not following me over at RoseAtwater.com, on October 1, I joined the 31 Days Writing Challenge and I’ve been blogging about 31 Days in the Life of a Cake Decorating, Blogging, Homeschooling, Wife & Mommy.
What does that mean? Basically I’m journaling about my life every single day this month – sharing the good, the bad, the busy, the boring and everything in between about my life. If you’d like to follow along, please catch up here and sign up here for free updates in your inbox!
But, for those of you who just want to hear about the cake… well here’s what I’ve done this past week!
First up – early in the week I made those pink cupcakes for a sweet lady celebrating her 99th birthday and then I made the LSU Cake. It had purple & gold stripes inside like this cake! Those were done on Tuesday & Wednesday, respectively.
Thursday I spent all day baking and Friday, I spent all decorating, then delivering. My brother delivered the Pink Painting Party cake, then Sarah & I delivered all of the other cakes and a BUNCH of cupcakes…
Yeah… it was over 10 dozen cupcakes, plus 2 cakes and a box of Dipped Oreo Pawprint Cookies.
On Friday night (after all of that), I baked one last batch of vanilla cake into a 5″ round cake and cupcakes for this Caterpillar Cake/Cupcakes order:
On Saturday morning I finished up that order, then I got busy on my wedding order. It involved baking three pans of Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce (for the groom’s table – which I completely forgot to photograph) and then finishing up this wedding cake:
It was a small cake, but I looooove the way it turned out. It was 4″, 7″ and 10″ tiers of white almond sour cream cake filled and frosted with cream cheese buttercream. The florist added the beautiful topper that was made of very pale pink roses!
And that was it. Well, almost. On Tuesday when I baked that LSU cake, I initially baked the wrong size… an 8″ square instead of a 10″. I posted on Facebook (on my local page) that I had it for sale and nobody bit so I wrapped it up and stuck in the freezer. Oy… I hate wasted cake and time and ingredients.
Well, less than 24 hours later, I had a customer ask me if there was any way I could make an LSU cake for her boyfriend for this weekend… just something small and simple to pick up today (Sunday). Really!?!? I told her I didn’t have time to bake or decorate anything else, but I offered her the cake from the freezer and she said it would be perfect! I frosted it with white vanilla buttercream, write “Happy Birthday Eric” and borders in LSU purple. DONE! (except I forgot to take a picture)
So there you go… a peek into my week! How was your week, this first week in October??
