What I’ve Been Doing This Week… LOTS of baking! That’s what! This was by and far my busiest week in January as far as my real-life cake business. THIS was my baking list:
For anybody counting… that’s 3 birthday cakes, 1 smash cake, 36 cookies, 24 cake pops and over 200 cupcakes (there may not be 200 cupcakes listed there, but I ended up with 204, I think – minus the ones my family ate… probably at least a dozen over 2 days).
Anyway…. it was a lot. That’s my point. Wanna see them all? Just keep on reading…
First up – I made this cake on Wednesday:
Next up, I made 24 cupcakes with leaf green buttercream. And I have no picture of them. 🙁 Sometimes I just get in too big of a hurry for my own good.
Then there was Peppa Pig:
Along with this sweet little cake (it was 5″ and 7″ tiers of vanilla cake), my client Jerry (one of my favorite clients, by the way) also ordered 5 dozen matching blue cupcakes… of which I also forgot to take a picture. #failedagain But you can see a few of them here on her Instagram feed. 🙂
And then there were cookies. 3 dozen to be exact:
I think I’m getting better at cookies. And I was totally smitten with these little baby bird cookies for a baby shower. I used this cutter. It was smaller than I thought, but they were adorable!
First up… I finished a simple order for pink cupcakes and guess what? You’ve got it! I forgot to take a picture. But they looked a lot like these:
Except the cake was this amazing strawberry cake and the liners were brown. They were also for a Peppa Pig party but my client was supplying the toppers!
And then, maybe the most fun order of the weekend and a theme I haven’t done before… a Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Birthday party for sisters (turning 1 and 3!).
So there was the cake (6″ and 10″ tiers) – the top was vanilla cake and the bottom was strawberry cake. It was covered and decorated with homemade marshmallow fondant – except the stars and moon were Satin Ice gum paste.
The star cake pops were something new for me too… I made my cake pop dough (see how here), then rolled it out like cookie dough (except really thick), cut out the stars and chilled them, then dipped and sprayed with PME Gold spray. LOVED the way they came out!
And then the sweet little smash cake. It was a single layer 6″ round. I did the buttercream ruffles then added 3 stars to coordinate with the cake!
Alrighty…. and wrapping it up – I did cupcakes for my niece & nephew’s birthday party! Surprise, surprise… I did take a picture but it wasn’t great. I was in a hurry and my white balance was off and well… ugh. Oh well!
They were cute and there were only like 2 left in the box (yes, I just said “like”) so I think they were a hit – considering I took 4 dozen to the party!
