Soo…. how about some Zebra & Leopard Print cupcakes… in purple & blue?! These were for sweet girls celebrating their 9th birthday together!
A few weeks ago I had an order for a cake that included the above patterns/colors, but due to some scheduling problems, I wasn’t going to be able to do a cake. However, I did have time to make some cupcakes!
This was my first try at piping zebra and leopard print and it wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t hard to do, but I certainly need some more practice to master the design!
Do you have a favorite? Teal or purple? Leopard or zebra? I think I like the leopard print best!
These cupcakes were vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. I baked them in black grease-proof liners. I used electric blue and a little teal for the blue, then I used violet and a touch of regal purple for the purple.
To do these cupcakes, I piped on the white frosting with a huge round tip from the Ateco Large Tubes set. I let it crust for about 10 minutes, then smoothed the tops down with a Viva paper towel.
Then I piped on the blue, purple and/or black frosting. Again… I let it crust for about 10 minutes and smoothed it flat with a Viva paper towel!
Mine aren’t nearly as neat as Melissa’s, but I followed the tutorial from My Cake School to make these cupcakes! Hop over there and have a look for the complete tutorial!
