Description

Taco night is always a winner around here, especially on busy nights when I need a quick dinner that everybody will actually eat without complaints. This easy ground beef taco meat recipe is packed with flavor thanks to onions, bell peppers, and taco seasoning, and it comes together in about 20 minutes. Use it for classic ground beef tacos, taco salad, taco bowls, beef enchiladas, Navajo tacos, or even taco soup later in the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons of cooking oil (vegetable or olive)
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper (small multi colored suggested)
  • 1.5 lbs. of ground beef
  • 1 pack of taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large frying pan, add about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and heat the pan on medium heat.
  2. Add onions and cook for about 2-3 minutes until soft.  Add bell pepper and cook for about another 2 minutes. Place the cooked mixture into a bowl and set aside.
  3. Add ground beef to the pan and turn the heat up to medium high.  Brown the meat until it’s cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add taco seasoning and water and turn down the heat to low and simmer until water is absorbed.  Add the onions and peppers back into the meat mixture.
  5. Serve on taco shells, hard or soft, or fry bread.  Top with cheese of choice, lettuce, tomato, raw onion, olives, guacamole, sour cream, and/or salsa.
