Description

These cheese fries are crispy on the outside, soft inside, and covered in a rich, creamy cheddar cheese sauce! The fries cook in the air fryer while the sauce comes together on the stove, so everything is ready in about 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (26-32 ounce) bag Frozen French Fries
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tablespoons All Purpose Flour
  • Pinch of Paprika
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 8 ounces Cheddar Cheese, freshly shredded
  • Thinly sliced Green Onion, optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400℉, then place the fries in 1-2 layers. You should still be able to see the bottom, and air-fry for 12-15 minutes, or follow the directions on the bag. You may need to fry these in batches.
  2. While the fries are air frying, make the cheesy sauce by melting the butter in your saucepan.
  3. Then stir in the flour, paprika, salt & pepper.
  4. Once the dry ingredients are well mixed with the butter, slowly pour in the milk, while constantly stirring, and keeping the mixture thick.
  5. Then stir in the cheese until completely melted.
  6. Once both the sauce and the fries are done, place the fries on a large serving plate, pour the cheese sauce all over, and then sprinkle the green onions on top before enjoying!

Notes

  • These fries taste the best when freshly made! If you need to save leftovers, let them cool completely, then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave until warm.
