Description
This Easy Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream is delicious and can be ready in as little as 30 minutes. There are only 3 ingredients – no eggs and no cooking required! It’s soft and creamy and a delightfully simple dessert.

- 4 cups half & half
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1–2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. I used 2 but we like vanilla a lot.
You’ll also need:
- Ice (4-5 pounds is my guess) and
- 1/2 cup ice cream rock salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the half & half, sugar, and vanilla.
- Pour into the bowl of an ice cream maker.
- Place the ice cream maker bowl inside the ice crema maker and fill the outside container with ice. Pour salt over and around the ice.
- Place the lid on top onto the ice cream bowl and turn your machine on.
- Let it freeze for 20-30 minutes. It took 20 minutes in my Bosch – follow the instructions for your machine if it’s a different brand.
- Add more ice and salt as needed.
- Enjoy immediately as soft serve ice cream, or place in a freezer safe container and freeze at least 2 hours for a more scoopable ice cream.
Notes
No machine? Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and place in the freezer. Stir every 2-4 hours once it begins to freeze. ice crystals form.
