Sweet, crunchy cinnamon sugar pecans made on the stovetop in about 15 minutes. A perfect snack, holiday appetizer, and easy food gift.

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  2. Add the sugar, water, cinnamon, and vanilla to a medium saucepan.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until the ingredients are combined and the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the pecans.
  5. Stir for several minutes, lifting and turning the pecans through the syrup until they’re coated. As the mixture cools, the cinnamon sugar coating should begin to cling to the pecans.
  6. Continue stirring and tossing until all the pecans are coated.
  7. Spread the pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Separate them as much as possible so they don’t stick together.
  8. Let the pecans cool and dry completely before serving or storing, at least 20 minutes. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Watch your heat. Sugar scorches fast on high heat, and electric stoves stay hot after the burner is off.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy version.
