Description

This Spring Charcuterie Board is a beautiful combination of fresh fruits, meat flowers and cheese roses. The edible flowers are so easy to make, and the simple charcuterie board is sure to wow guests for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or any other fancy occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • deli ham
  • deli salami
  • red grapes
  • pistachios
  • cashews
  • honey
  • Lemon slices (thin)
  • blood orange slices (thin)
  • cucumber slices (thin)
  • strawberries slices (thin)
  • provolone cheese slices
  • fresh sage (I used 2 packages)
  • mozzarella pearls
  • blueberries
  • brown parchment paper
  • toothpicks
  • small pinch bowls
  • 2-inch condiment cups

Instructions

Blueberry skewers

  1. Take a tooth pick and thread 4-5 blueberries onto it.
  2. Repeat for as many skewers as you’d like for your board.

Ham & Salami Roses

  1. Take a cup and layer 3 meat slices around the edges of the cup.
  2. Repeat with 2 more slices for the next layer, then 2 more slices for the third layer.
  3. Flip the cup over on the board and you’re left with a beautiful rose made out of deli meat.

Fruit, Cheese, & Strawberry, and Cucumber Roses

  1. Make sure your fruit is sliced extremely thin. If it is too thick, the slices won’t bend easily to make the rose petals!
  2. In a condiment cup, start placing slices of fruit around the interior edges of the cup to create your first layer of petals. (Typically 4-5 fruit slices)
  3. Once you have your first layer, place 3-4 slices in the cup to create your second layer.
  4. For your last layer, take a slice and roll it up, then place it in the center. This will give the rose “swirl”!
  5. Do this entire process for the lemon slices, blood orange slices, strawberries slices, provolone, and cucumber slices.

Board Construction

  1. Place down your deli meat roses first, since those take up the most space. You will build your board around these!
  2. Next place your lemon roses and blood orange roses, since those are the next largest. Make sure to evenly space them out.
  3. Next add in your strawberry and cucumber roses.
  4. Once all the roses are placed, fill three small pinch bowls with honey, pistachios, and cashews. Place the bowls on the board, evenly spaced.
  5. Fill in the extra spaces with red grapes, the blueberry skewers, and mozzarella pearls.
  6. Finally, place the sage leaves around the edges of the board as well as in the center spaces to create the “flower leaves”.

Notes

  • You can use any deli meat for the roses, but salami and ham are common charcuterie board staples!
  • If you cannot find blood oranges, you can use grapefruit, regular oranges, or even limes.
  • The great thing about these types of boards is that you have creative freedom! If you decide you want melon or Brie or crackers, then feel free to add them!
  • Because there is meat and cheese on this board, make sure to consume it within 4 hours or place those elements in the fridge if not consumed. Same goes for the fruit.
