Description
Brioche French toast is a decadent twist on the classic French toast recipe, made using thick slices of brioche bread and a custard-type mixture with brown sugar and cinnamon. This is the best French Toast recipe you'll ever find!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 10 slices brioche bread
Equipment:
Instructions
- Whisk together the eggs, cream, vanilla, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a medium mixing bowl. Make sure the eggs are thoroughly beaten and there are not any clumps of dry cinnamon in the mixture.
- Heat a nonstick pan or skillet over medium-high heat for a few minutes. Dip both sides of a piece of bread in the egg mixture and then gently place it in the pan. Cook the French toast for about 2 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- Repeat the cooking process with the remaining slices of bread.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Most major grocery stores like Walmart sell brioche bread. You can usually find it in the bakery section near the sweet breads and desserts.
- If you have a brioche recipe you really like then feel free to use homemade bread instead. Make sure you cut your bread into even slices so they cook the same.
- Don’t let your brioche sit in the egg mixture for too long. Brioche is very very absorbent and this can cause it to become soggy. Only dip your bread right before you put it in the pan.
- To help prevent the French toast from sticking, you can add some nonstick cooking spray or a tablespoon of butter to the pan.
- Serve your French toast topped with powdered sugar and maple syrup. You can also serve it with whipped cream and fresh berries.
- This French toast is best served fresh; however, if you have any leftovers they can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days in an airtight container. You can reheat your leftovers in the microwave for about 40 seconds, flipping halfway through. I like to reheat no more than 2 pieces at a time.
- The brown sugar helps give this French toast a deeper, richer sweetness and pairs wonderfully with the warm spice of the cinnamon.
